Step 6: Rooms Configuration
Room configuration defines your physical learning spaces and their capabilities. The system uses this information to assign appropriate rooms to each course section while maximizing space utilization and minimizing conflicts.
Understanding Room Requirements
Different courses have varying space and equipment needs. The Individual Student Schedule Generator matches these requirements with your available facilities to create practical, efficient room assignments.

Essential Room Information
Room ID/Number: Unique identifier for each space
- Use existing room numbering system from your facility
- Include building designations for multi-building campuses
- Be consistent with signage and campus navigation
Room Name: Descriptive name for the space
- Include location information (Science Lab A, Main Gym, Library)
- Use names that students, teachers, and visitors can easily understand
- Consider how names appear on printed schedules and room assignments
Capacity: Maximum number of students the room can safely accommodate
- Consider furniture layout and safety requirements
- Account for teacher workspace and movement areas
- Include accessibility requirements for students with disabilities
Room Assignment Strategies
Fixed Room Assignments
Teacher-Dedicated Rooms: Spaces assigned to specific teachers
- Science teachers with their laboratories
- Art teachers with specialized studios
- Music teachers with acoustically treated rooms
- Reduces setup time and allows for permanent displays
Subject-Dedicated Rooms: Spaces designated for specific courses
- Computer labs for technology courses
- Gymnasiums for physical education
- Libraries for research-based courses
- Ensures appropriate equipment and resources are available
Fixed Assignment Benefits: Teachers can customize their spaces, maintain specialized equipment, and create subject-specific learning environments. However, this may reduce overall room utilization efficiency.
